This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

How Traineeship
Our Certificate III in Process Plant Operations is a technical qualification for advanced operators and operations technicians who use production equipment to directly produce product. At this level, operators/ technicians will undertake more advanced operations, typically of integrated plant units in accordance with the operating procedures, and will apply their knowledge to anticipate problems. This qualification is customisable based on your company requirements and is typically used to develop employees performing a process plant operator’s role that includes the running of specific areas of a process plant.
There are a number of delivery options to complete this qualification:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) only; this program is suited to existing workers in the chemical, hydrocarbons or refining sectors, or similar industries. Completion will require third-party verification and submission of workplace evidence.
Traineeship
Traineeship consists of units of competency selected by your employer.
Training is delivered through on-campus block releases:
- First year: two three-week blocks
- Second year: one three-week block and one two-week block
All assessments are completed on campus during these block releases.
To enrol as a trainee, you must be employed by an appropriate organisation under a formal training contract.
