South Metropolitan TAFE has partnered with Woolworths Group to launch ‘Mini Woolies’ at our Mandurah campus, to help students with disabilities gain job-ready skills for the workplace.
Mini Woolies provides a real-world simulated retail space which emulates an actual Woolworths, preparing students for what to expect in their day-to-day work life.
Last year, South Metro TAFE became the first vocational training provider in WA to host a Mini Woolies facility, with the initial site opening at our Bentley campus. Now, Mandurah proudly becomes our second campus to become home to a Mini Woolies.
Thanks to Woolworths Group and Fujitsu Australia, a classroom has been converted into a retail training environment complete with fresh food displays, uniforms, two cash-registers, and the iconic green shopping baskets. Students can practise money handling and customer service skills to build confidence in a lifelike setting and take their first step towards gaining employment.
Mini Woolies Mandurah was officially opened on 31 July 2025, attended by Rhys Williams MLA, Member for Mandurah, and Councillors Bob Pond and Amber Kearns from the City of Mandurah.
Thank you to our students for providing an opportunity for guests at the launch to ‘shop the store’ and get a taste of what Mini Woolies offers.
We extend our appreciation to Woolworths Group and Fujitsu Australia, and congratulate our Foundation Skills and General Education team on the launch of our second Mini Woolies!
