Delivered in partnership with BHP, the Trainee 2 Warehouse Pathway Program provides entry-level participants with the required skills to gain employment in Western Australia’s resources industry. BHP is offering fully-funded, paid training scholarships to selected applicants, with an opportunity for employment with BHP at the conclusion of the Program for those who achieve the course requirements and demonstrate suitability for the role.
Students will be employed with Programmed whilst completing the TLI20421 Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations, which will prepare you for a warehouse operator role with BHP in the Pilbara region. The role is responsible for ensuring parts and materials are received, stored, and dispatched safely, efficiently and effectively.

Qualification: TLI20421 Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations
Duration: 9 weeks full-time, 4-5 days per week
Dates: Monday, 28 April 2025, to Friday, 27 June 2025
Location: Rockingham campus, Simpson Ave, Rockingham
The TLI20421 Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations qualification provides a pathway to the warehousing and supply chain industry. Units have been aligned with the skills and knowledge required for BHP’s Warehousing Operators. Skills covered during the training are broad and will include at a high level:
- working effectively and sustainably across the supply chain industry
- WHS requirements, policies and procedures, including chain of responsibility, loading and unloading freight, and safe manual handling.
- checking and assessing the operational capabilities of equipment
- identifying, storing and handling general goods, dangerous goods and hazardous substances
- picking and processing orders, replenishing and dispatching stock
- using business software applications
You will also complete a skills set including the Construction White Card, Forklift licence and First Aid.
Training will be aligned to the tasks expected of a warehouse operator with BHP. Participants will obtain foundational warehousing and supply chain knowledge and skills and the confidence to work with a range of tasks associated with the role with BHP.
The Trainee 2 Warehouse Pathway Program offers participants the opportunity to:
- foster an understanding of the BHP Warehouse Operator role and associated routines and procedures
- develop technical and practical skills linked to the job outcomes
- learn foundation principles, functions and responsibilities of the supply chain industry, and work safely in a warehouse environment
- be part of a recruitment process conducted by BHP at the conclusion of the program.
Applicants are required to be 18 years and over, either female or of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (male or female) and must be competent in communication and mathematics. These skills are equivalent to completion of Year 10 but may also be achieved through previous work or informal learning experiences. Applicants should have a reasonable level of physical fitness to complete manual tasks and demonstrate a good attitude and work ethic.
The course has been developed to mirror the BHP work environment, with workplace language and policies followed. Participants will complete drug and alcohol screening during the training program. Students will receive support from SM TAFE Student Services and Jobs and Skills Engagement Officers to provide every opportunity for success.
