Take the plunge into leadership

Become a leader in the outdoor recreation industry. This qualification is aimed at employability in the marine and land based outdoor adventure and recreation industry with employment outcomes such as hiking, kayaking and snorkeling leaders/guides, charter boat crew, and leaders for camps, expeditions and adventure tours among many others.

During the course you will undertake the planning, risk management, finalisation and leading of multiple activities including bushwalking, snorkeling, kayaking and navigation.

This is a fun, challenging and exciting qualification that will help you gain the knowledge and skills to take the first steps into an amazing, growing industry.

This qualification starts yearly in Semester 1, with full-time study options available at our Fremantle campus.

 

  • lead and guide snorkeling, kayaking and bushwalking outdoor activities
  • techniques to demonstrate and instruct skills for adventure activities
  • manage groups of participants in an outdoor environment
  • first aid, water rescue and response to emergencies skills
  • navigation, communication systems and weather interpretation
  • work health and safety, hazard identification, assess and control risks for activities
  • minimal environmental impact practices
  • manage and maintain equipment for outdoor activities
  • logistics of outdoor operations and providing a quality service
  • carry out inspections of trailers

In order to make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, you must take into account the essential skills and knowledge required to undertake this study.
