Is your plant looking a little sad, struggling to thrive, or just plain mysterious?
Welcome to Plant Ed Clinic - Rescue & Revive, a fun and hands-on 3-week course designed to help you become a more confident plant detective.
I’m Kaj, an experienced and qualified horticulturist, lifelong plant lover and enthusiastic plant nerd! I’ve worked across a wonderfully diverse range of horticultural environments — from managing the many moving parts of a native nursery and working as a nursery technician in an indoor plant nursery, to landscaping ornamental and exotic gardens and working in natural areas as a technician.
Over three interactive weeks, we’ll get our hands dirty, sharpen our observation skills and learn how to read what your plants are trying to tell you.
Together, we’ll explore how to identify common plant problems, understand what’s causing them, and - most importantly - know what to do to help your plants recover and thrive.
What we’ll get stuck into
- Common pests - learn to spot them early, understand what’s attracting them, and explore practical prevention and treatment options.
- Nutrient deficiencies - recognise the signs of hungry plants and learn how to choose and apply the right amendments.
- Soil & substrates - discover why the right growing medium matters and how to match soil/substrate to your plant’s needs.
- Light & water - learn to understand your plant’s environmental needs and avoid the classic “too much” or “not enough” traps.
- Plant observation & diagnosis - develop your eye for subtle clues and learn a practical approach to working out what’s really going on with a struggling plant.
- Rescue & revival - put your knowledge into practice and learn practical ways to bring stressed, unhealthy plants back towards abundance.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
Observe your plants with a more trained eye.
Identify common signs of pests, nutrient issues and environmental stress.
Diagnose likely causes rather than simply treating the symptoms.
Choose appropriate soil, substrates, watering, light and amendments for different plants.
Take practical action to rescue struggling plants and give them the conditions they need to bounce back.
Come curious, bring your questions, and be prepared to get a little dirt under your fingernails.
Let’s get those plants out of the ER and back to thriving!
