The Western Australian Defence Industry Workforce Office was established in May 2019 as an outcome of the Advancing Education, Training and Skilling strategy, part of the Western Australian Defence and Defence Industries Strategic Plan launched by the Premier in 2018.
The office leads the development of the WA Defence Workforce Development Plan working collaboratively with the other TAFE colleges and education and training providers, taking input from the WA defence industry and the support of the Department of Training and Workforce Development. The plan focuses on priority projects across all six of the capability domains in the Commonwealth Government’s Defence Integrated Investment Program. It also develops a state based skills profile for naval shipbuilding to enable the state’s education and training providers to better respond to emerging workforce needs.
