The SHB30516 Certificate III in Barbering is your gateway to a fast-paced, creative career where style meets skill. This hands-on course is designed to ignite your passion for barbering, giving you the confidence and expertise to stand out in a vibrant, ever-evolving industry.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn from industry professionals to develop a strong foundation of in-demand skills used every day in barber shops and salons, including:
- Shampoo and basin services
- Precision cutting with scissors and clippers
- Modern men's styling, including fades, tracks and carving
- Beard and moustache design and maintenance
- Men's grooming and finishing techniques
- Head and face shaving
- Safe hygiene and professional practices
You will be required to participate in our Student Training Salon(opens in a new tab) , which is open to the public, with real, paying clients. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a barber in any industry environment, usually a barbershop or salon.

Apprenticeship

You must be employed in a training contract with an appropriate organisation to study an apprenticeship. Training is delivered one day per week on campus, while you gain valuable hands-on experience working with real clients in a barbering or hairdressing salon.

If you are a qualified hairdresser, Recognition of Prior Learning(opens in a new tab)  is available, which could give you credits for certain units that make up this qualification.
