The Murdoch Student Garden Centre is a centre of excellence in horticulture and pivotal to student's learning for service delivery.
As part of their Murdoch campus studies, each semester students propagate natives, herbs and some exotic plants suitable to WA's climate. These plants are then prepared at the on-campus nursery and greenhouse for retail sales at the Student Garden Centre Plant Sale. This is open to the general public for a short time each May and November, giving students the ability to satisfy the retail skill building requirements of their horticulture course.
Plant sales are usually week-long and held roughly May and November each year, along with sporadic pop-up sales. The retail centre is not open any other time.
On sale days, shoppers can purchase plants and potting mix made by students and test the student’s knowledge in plant care advice. Students also get hands-on experience in planning the sales, including merchandising, promotions, social media and retail interface.
The Garden Centre accepts EFTPOS payment only.
Parking is extremely limited at Murdoch campus, and special plant sale parking is made available on plant sale days. Visit the Murdoch campus page to download the parking map.
