This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

Please note: This qualification focuses on the early childhood services sector. 

You will learn how to implement planned education programs, assist students with their learning and development, contribute to the safety and health of students, support students with additional needs and work effectively with culturally diverse students and colleagues.  

As part of this qualification, you will undertake work placement where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned in a classroom setting. 

 

When you complete the Certificate II in Community Services you’ll be on your way to a career as a youth worker, support worker or family carer. You will gain the following skills: 
 

  • communicate and work effectively 
  • gather and provide information 
  • work health and safety 
  • how to manage workplace stress 
  • work with diverse people

In order to make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, you must take into account the essential skills and knowledge required to undertake this training:
 

  • ability to strictly follow workplace safety standards
  • an eye for detail and a creative flair
  •  good hand-eye coordination
  • time management and the ability to work with tight deadlines
  • good communication skills
