This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

This course is a VET Student Loan eligible course. A VET Student Loan creates a debt that must be repaid to the Commonwealth and is only available to students who are eligible.

When you complete the Diploma of Project Management you will be looking at a career as a contract coordinator, project manager, quality administrator or risk management professional.

Completion of the Diploma of Project Management opens up a range of further study options and it may provide advanced standing towards a university degree.

Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship Program

If you are studying a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Aviation, Cyber Security, Engineering, IT, Logistics, or Project Management then you are eligible to apply.

The Defence Industry Internship and Graduate Scholarship Program (DIIGS), funded by the State Government, has various grants (starting at $2,500) and work placement opportunities that could set you up for a career in the defence industry. Read more about DIIGS and how to apply.

This qualification is not suitable for school leavers as it reflects the role of individuals in project leadership and management roles who are responsible for applying project management skills and knowledge to their work and the work of others to achieve project objectives.

Murdoch University

This course has a study pathway to Murdoch University(opens in a new tab) as of March 2022.

Attendance in class

This course is part-time over two semesters. The part time option requires attendance at campus for workshops one Tuesday a month, from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm (There are also some non-mandatory tutorial days scheduled to provide additional support).

At-home study

As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6-8 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

You will need to have the basic technical requirements(opens in a new tab)  for at-home study. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers(opens in a new tab)  during library hours.

Work placement

Work placement is not a requirement for this course.

What you need for your first day of class

On your first day you should bring your SM TAFE confirmation enrolment receipt, your student ID, stationery (pen, exercise book, file and a USB storage device).

Your lecturers will advise you at orientation of any additional resource requirements such as textbooks and software applications, as well as providing information on how to access or purchase student copies/licences. 

Dress requirements - smart casual dress at all times.
