Prepare for your baking apprenticeship and learn how to make pastry, bread, meringues and doughnuts. 

At SM TAFE students train in an on-campus bakehouse that sell students’ baked goods directly to the public, providing real-world experience for transition into industry.

Ready for your career to rise as a baker?

When you complete the Certificate II in Baking (Baking Pre-Apprenticeship) you will be ready for an apprenticeship in the baking industry.

We are the only provider offering training in baking with an on-campus bakehouse that sells students' work to the general public.

 

  • make and bake pastry, bread, meringues, and doughnuts
  • customer service
  • first aid
  • hygiene
  • workplace health and safety

 

In order to make an informed choice about the suitability of this course, you must take into account the essential skills and knowledge required to undertake this study.

  • be able to deal with physical demands of manual tasks including personal care work and lifting
  • ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time
  • good attention to detail to enable intricate work to be undertaken
  • good leadership skills
