Online study

Students are required to be at least 20 years of age and currently working with a minimum 4 years work experience to apply.

For non-trainees, this course is mostly delivered online. Students completing the online study option will enrol into and complete 1 unit at a time, with progress monitored by their lecturer. This can be done at a pace suitable to you but for each unit you have 3 months to complete, so we recommend you use our schedule provided to you at enrolment to assist you in avoiding having to re-enrol in the unit.

The nature of online study can involve a significant investment of time and the ability to be a focused, self-motivated learner. You should consider your personal circumstances and past study history before committing to study online. Find out more in our online study info pack below.

Demonstration of practical skills
Students must be able to demonstrate oral communication and group interaction skills to achieve this qualification. You will be required to organise team scenarios and participate in group simulated activities. You may choose to perform these activities with work colleagues who can participate and support you in oral communication roleplays with past work experience, or with family, neighbours, or friends, depending on your personal circumstances.

Software and equipment
Your study will use online software including Blackboard, Excel and Word, with access provided to you after enrolment. You will need to have intermediate computer skills and basic technical requirements for at-home study. If you don’t have access to a computer and WiFi at home, we recommend using our library computers during library hours. You will also need to use MS Teams (or YouTube) for recording role play assessments.

Using Blackboard for assignments
Your study for each unit in Blackboard will involve a series of learning quizzes which you will need to complete accurately, with unlimited attempts allowed. When you have been successful in all quizzes, you can download the Integrated Project word document from Blackboard, answer all tasks and then submit your completed project file into Blackboard. You will have another attempt possible to resubmit your corrected project file, and further attempts can be arranged at the discretion of your lecturer.
   

On campus attendance

Optional on campus lecturing and tutorials are offered in addition to your online learning. You are welcome to join us during the specified time, it is flexible, there is no need to come to every class, you may pop in for an hour of two, however, it is highly recommended that you arrive early so you don't miss out on the lectures. 

There will be lecturer support, tutorials, and lectures, plus you can interact with other students. There is no additional fee. This is a great opportunity to complete the assessment in the classroom. Please note - you should attempt to engage consultation with your work colleagues to gain on site practical experience. Please be mindful that this is a shared environment, therefore, be considerate of others when having general discussions. 

Once you have enrolled, class dates, times and the classroom number will be available on Blackboard.
